PROGRAMS

Focus Points offers educational programs designed to encourage lifelong learning and to advance literacy levels for both children and adults. The goal of all of Focus Points’ programs is to help families be successful and happy.

Current programs emphasize teaching adults basic education skills in reading and writing; teaching English to immigrants; and providing Early Childhood Education and parenting programs to Spanish-speaking families.

The following programs are offered by Focus Points:

• Adult Education is the largest department at Focus Points and includes English as a Second Language classes and the Open Book Adult Basic Education/ GED preparation program.

• Early Childhood Education is offered to parents of preschool children through two programs, Parents as Teachers (PAT) and Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY).

• Family Health and Parenting classes are offered periodically to help parents learn about difficult topics like healthy discipline and family planning.

The local community trusts Focus Points to provide high-quality programs in both Spanish and English, and to offer a safe place where every member of the family can learn, grow and achieve.
